General Questions

We are at the corner of Route 118 and North Groton Road in Dorchester, New Hampshire, and Cheever Trail on the NH Snowmobile Trail System.

We (Bear and Kim) have been smokin’ for fun since 2001, but officially started our catering business in 2015.

We are proud to support and offer local New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont meats, seafood, and produce, when available. We always try to stay local. MontShire Farms, Peaked Moon Farm, and Longview Farm are some of our local favorites!

We use local sugar maple, apple, and cherry woods.

Catering

If you can think of a reason to have a party in New Hampshire, we can cater it for you! We have done weddings, graduations, anniversaries, fly-ins, sailboat regattas, Laconia Motorcycle Week parties, bonfire parties, welcome home parties, trip of a lifetime celebrations, business anniversaries, staff appreciation parties, retirement parties, veterans fundraisers, family reunions, surprise birthday parties, class reunions, and event a soccer team win party.

For all off-site catering events, we do require a flat, level area, with easy access in and out, to park and set up the smoker.

Since all catering events are custom, let’s talk and see what your party is all about!

Yes. In accordance with New Hampshire state law, we’re unable to sell directly to the public from the smoker, so we can’t set up at any public fair or festival type event.

We build custom menus for all of our catering events, but popular items are our smoked pork loin, smoked chicken thighs, warm German Potato Salad, Confetti Pasta Salad, and handcut coleslaw with our homemade dressing.

Yes, please! That is pretty much how we do it. Not sure what you want? Ask Bear! Don’t see what you crave? Ask Bear! He can help you decide on the right menu that makes your mouth water!

Bear is a pro at assisting you in deciding how much food to order for your event. It really depends on your group and the total number of guests.

Absolutely! We do require a flat level area, with easy access in and out, to park and set up the smoker.

Bear hand-carves the meats on-site during your event in front of your guests, and The Pit Crew serves our delicious sides, buffet style, so that we’re the only folks handling the food provided.

Yes. First, we require a Save the Date agreement which includes a $100 non-refundable fee. This fee is applied to your total event invoice. A 50% deposit of your total event cost is required at the time of signing our Service Agreement, and the balance is due on the day of your event. An 8.5% NH Meals and Rooms Tax applies to all catering orders.

We can cater anywhere in the state of New Hampshire. Unfortunately, we cannot cater events outside of New Hampshire.

Takeout

At Smokin Bear, we serve smoked meats of all kinds, including beef, chicken, pork, and fish. We offer tofu and mushrooms for our non-meat eating friends!

We also have sides, such as warm German potato salad, soups, and beans with and without meat. The menu changes weekly so stay tuned! Talk with Bear to discuss your thoughts for food!

We’ll be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. or until we sell out! We’re also open some holidays and school vacations, but this changes frequently. Check our website or Facebook for more information.

Yes, the state of NH demands we charge 8.5%. There is also a fee if you pay by credit card.
